Inside the Bakehouse

Hi — I’m Heather. I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my page. I’m a Christian, wife, and as you’ve seen by now, a home baker. I believe that good bread can, and should, be simple. That’s why I set out to create a simple way for you to provide delicious bread for your family.

I started baking sourdough as a way to feed my own family well — with simple ingredients, repeatable methods, and long fermentation. It quickly became a part of our routine — and now it can be a part of yours too.

I bake in small batches so that each loaf gets the attention it deserves, while keeping this work sustainable alongside other responsibilities. My commitment to you is bread that’s fresh — made to order and never frozen; simple — made with just a few real ingredients; and fermented — all of my sourdough products are genuinely long fermented for the health benefits you want. I hope our bread becomes a simple, reliable part of your routine.

Thank you for choosing to support a small, local bakehouse.

What We Believe

Here at the Findley Bakehouse, we believe the reason for everything is the gospel of Jesus Christ. If that sounds surprising, let me explain!

The reason we enjoy delicious bread, share bread with family & friends, and care about quality food is because of the God who created us to do so, the one true God of the Bible. Even though we were created by God to worship him and enjoy him forever, we separated ourselves from him by disobeying his commands and choosing to live for ourselves instead of him, also known as sin. Sin is best described as “missing the mark” — something we all do daily if we’re honest. Because we fall short of perfection and because God is a holy, perfect God who upholds justice, we deserve punishment for our sin against him. The punishment for sin against an eternal God is eternal punishment, but God loves his creation — you and me — and had a plan from the beginning to save his people who willingly chose to live against him.

This plan was completed in Christ, the son of God who came down to Earth and lived the perfect, sinless life that you and I fail to live. He was put to death on a cross to pay the debt we owed for our sin — the eternal son of God paying the eternal price we owed. After he died, absorbing all the wrath his people deserved for sin, he rose from the dead, proving that sin and death had been defeated. God saves his people by giving us faith in him and in his forgiveness through Christ. He has determined a way for us to be forgiven and spend eternity with him in heaven when we die, as well as have his help in living for him until then. This way, the only way, is by putting our trust in Christ for the forgiveness of all our sins and he will put in us a new heart that wants to worship him and have a relationship with our Creator and Savior.

The new life we can have in Christ is the impetus behind everything baked at the Findley Bakehouse. Because Christ saves, we live in thankfulness for all he has given us and believe in doing good, sharing good, and baking good, not because good works will save, but because being saved makes us want to obey God and share his goodness and love with others.

We hope you enjoy some of God’s goodness through our bread, and more importantly enjoy God forever through Christ.
